Description

AI is rapidly changing cybersecurity. Security teams are increasingly using AI for detection, analysis, automation, and incident response. At the same time, new risks are emerging: from AI-driven phishing and polymorphic malware to attacks on models, data pipelines, and AI applications. The CompTIA SecAI+ training helps you understand how to deploy AI safely, responsibly, and effectively within cybersecurity.

The SecAI+ training is intended for professionals with knowledge at least at the Security+ level. This can be achieved by obtaining Security+, but also through demonstrable practical experience in cybersecurity. You do not necessarily have to be an AI specialist already, but you must have sufficient foundational knowledge of security concepts, risks, attacks, and defense measures.

During the training, you will develop knowledge about the key AI concepts that are relevant to cybersecurity. You will learn to better place terms such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and automation within security applications. You will also gain insight into how AI is used for threat detection, defense, and security operations.

A significant part of the training focuses on securing AI systems. You will learn what technical measures are necessary to protect AI systems, data, and models. You will look at different environments, such as on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures. You will also learn how to mitigate risks related to attacks on AI models, data pipelines, and inference layers.

Additionally, the training covers how AI can support security teams. Think of recognizing anomalous behavior, accelerating threat detection, automating event triage, correlating alerts, and supporting incident remediation. You will learn to place AI techniques within threat modeling, behavior analysis, and continuous monitoring.

Finally, there is attention to governance, risk, and compliance. You will learn how laws and regulations, ethical principles, and frameworks influence AI adoption. Topics include responsible AI use, legal standards, GDPR, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

The CompTIA SecAI+ training is a logical next step for security professionals who want to expand their knowledge towards AI security, AI-assisted security operations, and responsible use of AI within cybersecurity.

Frequently Asked Questions

CompTIA SecAI+ is a certification focused on AI security. The certification validates practical, vendor-neutral knowledge and skills to secure AI systems, responsibly apply AI within security operations, and better manage risks related to AI governance, compliance, and regulation. The training and certification align with the practices of organizations where AI is increasingly part of applications, security platforms, data analysis, identity systems, and operational workflows.

The CompTIA SecAI+ training is intended for professionals who already have experience in IT and cybersecurity. CompTIA recommends approximately three to four years of general IT experience, with about two years in cybersecurity, for participation in this training. The training is therefore not intended as an entry point into cybersecurity. SecAI+ is particularly suitable for security engineers, security analysts, SOC analysts, cloud engineers, DevSecOps professionals, risk & compliance officers, and other professionals who deal with AI systems, AI-driven security tools, or AI risks within their organization.

AI is changing the threat landscape. AI systems introduce new attack surfaces that are either not present or less common in traditional applications. Think of prompt injection, training data poisoning, adversarial machine learning, and exploitation of model outputs. Additionally, attackers are increasingly using AI to automate reconnaissance, scale social engineering, and generate harmful content more quickly. As a result, security teams must not only continue to protect existing infrastructure but also learn how to secure AI models, data pipelines, model repositories, and AI workflows.

During the CompTIA SecAI+ training, you will learn how AI systems operate within enterprise environments and the security risks that arise from them. You will cover topics such as AI security fundamentals, AI threat modeling, securing AI systems, protecting training data and models, and monitoring AI systems in production. Additionally, you will learn how AI can be utilized within security operations, for example, for detection, analysis, automation, and incident response. There will also be a focus on governance, risk, and compliance, so you can help implement AI in a responsible and compliant manner within your organization.

No, SecAI+ does not replace these certifications. The certification is intended as an extension of existing cybersecurity knowledge. Security+ focuses on fundamental cybersecurity skills, CySA+ on detection and analysis, and SecurityX on advanced security architecture and enterprise security. SecAI+ adds specific depth in AI security to this. Thus, SecAI+ strengthens your existing cybersecurity profile, especially when AI systems and AI-driven tools become part of your work area.

An expansion certification is intended to extend existing professional skills into a specific technical or operational domain. In the case of SecAI+, this means deepening your existing cybersecurity knowledge towards AI security. SecAI+ is not tied to one specific job title. The certification is relevant for various security roles where AI plays a role, such as security operations, cloud security, DevSecOps, risk management, compliance, and security architecture.

The CompTIA SecAI+ exam focuses on applied knowledge and security decision-making in realistic scenarios. The exam consists of up to 60 questions, lasts 60 minutes, and is conducted in English.
